Starbucks, other businesses ban e-cigarettes

Aug 3, 2013 by

E-cigarettes Banned

e-cigarettesA wispy, white cloud swirls in the air…but is it smoke?
“We’re exhaling water vapor, not carcinogenic smoke,” said Alan Rogers.
Some people, like Alan, have traded in their traditional smokes for electronic cigarettes.
Rogers added, “It tastes a lot better than tobacco. It feels a lot better than tobacco.”
They claim it’s not the same as a cigarette, but Starbucks disagrees. In June the coffee company implemented a new policy that does not allow smoking within 25 feet of their stores.

Rogers added, “The stigma with smoking comes from the fact that it’s unhealthy, not just for you, but for the people around you. With the vaporizers, we’re not using carcinogens. We’re not exhaling anything that’s dangerous to anyone. They’re attaching a stigma to it that doesn’t need to be attached to it.”

Eliquid Review of Crystal Canyon Vapes Treviso

An eliquid review of Crystal Canyon Vapes Treviso by 411Vapes

Treviso

Creamy Tiramisu
Our Tiramisu starts off with sweet creamy Custard and blended with a light Liqueur. Combined with our bold Espresso, we then finish it off with rich Cocoa.
When these flavors come together, you have a semi sweet Italian favorite. The contrast of sweetness and Coffee gives this flavor a good balance.

Flavor profile: Semi Sweet, Cream, Custard, Espresso, Cocoa

E-cigs ad blitz goes unregulated

Aug 3, 2013 by

COMPANIES vying for a stake in the fast-growing e-cigs business are reviving the decades-old marketing tactics the tobacco industry used to hook generations of people on regular cigarettes.

e-cigsThey're using cab-top and bus stop displays, sponsoring race cars and events, and encouraging smokers to "rise from the ashes'' and take back their freedom in slick TV commercials featuring celebrities like TV personality Jenny McCarthy.
The Food and Drug Administration plans to set marketing and product regulations for electronic cigarettes in the near future. But for now, almost anything goes.
"Right now it's the wild, wild west,'' Mitch Zeller, director of the FDA's Center for Tobacco Products, said in a recent interview with The Associated Press.
Electronic cigarettes are battery-powered devices made of plastic or metal that heat a liquid nicotine solution, creating vapor that users inhale. Users get their nicotine without the thousands of chemicals, tar or odor of regular cigarettes. And they get to hold something shaped like a cigarette, while puffing and exhaling something that looks like smoke.

Kamry K101 Telescopic Mech-Mod Review

Aug 3, 2013 by
A straight up mechanical mod has no electronics to fail, no circuit boards, and can fire any cartomizer, clearomizer, or tank that is attached to it. They are simple devices that last forever and cannot be banned by the government because; in its simplest form it is not much more than a flashlight. A mechanical mod should be in the arsenal of every Vaper, even Vapers who use nothing more than cig-a-like batteries and prefilled cartomizers. When all is said and done, a mech-mod and a few batteries will keep you going when all others fail.
Convinced? You should be. The question shouldn’t be whether or not to own a mechanical mod, but rather which one and how many. The nature of my job allows me to use many different e-cigarettes, from simple mods to the most advanced electronic APV’s. For an inexpensive mod I found one that was so inexpensive, yet performed so well that I bought two of them, one to use, one to store “just in case”. I think you’re going to like it.
The Kamry K101 comes in three different colors; blue, purple, and bronze. I decided on two blue ones, for aesthetic reasons only. The purple and bronze colors are also nice, but I’m a ‘blue’ kind of person.
Specs:
  • 510 Threaded with air holes offer compatibility with flush sitting tanks
  • Lockable fire button
  • Telescopic: Fits 18350, 18500 and 18650 LiMh batteries
  • Beautiful anodized aluminum finish
Dimensions:
18350: 99mm/ 3.9 inches tall
18500: 113mm/ 4.4 inches tall
18650: 129mm/ 5.0 inches tall
Base unit without upper tube attached is 64mm/ 2.5 inches.
Width: 25.5mm/ 1 inch
By looking at the photos you can see that it’s a very modern, but simple design. Like the SMOKTech Magneto mech-mod reviewed yesterday by Tom McBride, the Kamry also sports a bottom-firing button. It’s not a magnetic switch, but it is lockable and it works well.
The Kamry K101 is simply a fully mechanical 510-threaded mod, nothing more and certainly nothing less. It is compatible with ‘most’ 510-threaded cartomizers, and even Vision eGo Clearomizers. The collar on the switch at the bottom can be screwed down to lock the switch and prevent accidental firing. There are multiple vent holes that have been punched into the metal tube for added protection.

Hard to find e-cigarette downsides

Aug 2, 2013 by
e-cigaretteLast week, a courteous man turned to me in a crowd and said, “I hope this doesn’t offend you,” and “puffed” on an e-cigarette, exhaling a plume of vapor that dissolved into the air. Although the end glowed like a regular cigarette, there was no secondhand smoke.
As a non-smoker — amid a growing debate — e-cigarettes inspire my interest. Are they the answer to cigarette addiction and secondhand smoke?
There was no tar and no smell, and they seem safer than regular cigarettes. They are free of the hundreds of additives, chemicals, smoke and carbon monoxide plaguing regular cigarettes. As a delivery system for nicotine (the addictive part of regular cigarettes), they mimic smoking and help smokers ease off their addiction to cigarettes, physically and behaviorally.

Reading the smoke signals on e-cigarettes

Can you puff away on a plane, train or in your local bar?

Jul 31, 2013 by

The rules can be hazy for electronic cigarettes, devices that uses synthetic nicotine and are cheaper and cleaner than the traditional kind. E-cigarettes are banned in some public places but restaurants, movie theaters, nightclubs, bowling alleys or shopping malls may allow 'vaping'.

e-cigarettesWhere there’s smoking, there’s no longer fire — but there’s plenty of heated debate.
Electronic cigarettes, known to smokers as e-cigarettes, are lighting up the city as puffers snuff out their butts in favor of the refillable, rechargeable alternative, which produces a not-so-smelly vapor instead of pungent smoke.
But should tokers treat these devices like cigarettes themselves, keeping the habit out of restaurants, bars, barbershops and airplanes? Or should they light up wherever the mood strikes, taking advantage of industry claims that the synthetic nicotine sticks are as harmless to passersby as nightclub fog machines?

SmokTech Magneto Mech-Mod Review

Aug 1, 2013 by

SmokTech Magneto

SmokTech Magneto
Donated by MyVaporStore for Spinfuel eMagazineI have always had a soft spot for completely mechanical mods. Their simplicity, their toughness, and their simplicity (wait, I said that already) are an alluring factor for many Vapers, myself included. When MyVaporStore sent us the new Magneto from SMOKTech I had to be the one to write the review. In the words of Mordin theSalarian in the magnificent “Mass Effect Trilogy” would say, “Someone else might have gotten it wrong”. There is much to like about the Magneto, and one or two annoyances as well.
The Mech-Mod Goes Upscale
Okay, so first of all, the Magneto is a good-looking mod. Far better looking than just about any other mechanical mod I’ve used in the past year and a half. Is it as good looking as something coming from Vape Rev, like anAtmomixani Nemesis? Well, no, then again, the glorious Nemesis is a $175 mod and the Magneto is just $49.95 (at MyVaporStore), so there’s that. It’s also not an Otto Carter $3000 hand-engraved piece of art, but no matter, it is still a good-looking mod that has taken the mech-mod to a higher scale than we’ve seen in some time (the above-mentioned mods excluded of course). But there is more to the Magneto than just good looks, a lot more.

Jenny McCarthy to Star in Latest Blu E-Cig Commercials

Aug 1, 2013 by
Blu ecigsTV personality Jenny McCarthy, the most recent addition to ABC's "The View," is the new face of Blu e-cigarettes, the leading brand in the category.
Ms. McCarthy will star in the brand's latest TV commercial starting Aug. 5 and webisodes slated for release today, according to Blu, which Lorillard bought for $135 million in 2012.
In the ads, she credits the Blu e-cigarettes for restoring her confidence in her dating life and introduces the Blu eCig Starter Pack, a new product. The webisode is a longer, different version of the TV commercial, in which Ms. McCarthy goes into greater deal about the Starter Pack, a spokeswoman for Blu said.
Blu did the creative for the ads with input from Ms. McCarthy, who follows in the footsteps of actor Stephen Dorff, the subject of TV and print ads for the brand.
